Detroit has been known as the City of Champions since the 1930s when the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings all won titles in the same decade. Also, back-to-back victories were celebrated by the Detroit Pistons in 1989 and 1990 and the Detroit Red Wings in 1997 and 1998. It's no wonder that USA Today rated Detroit the #1 sports town in the United States.
